Sustainability
At Salthammer Group, sustainability is fundamental. We aim to focus on sustainability in everything we do and are committed to being conscious of our responsibilities.
We work together with Næringshagen on sustainability reporting while also pursuing the Miljøfyrtårn certification. Additionally, we aim to achieve ISO 14001 certification. We are ISO 9001 certified, ensuring that our customers can trust we deliver as agreed. We are also ISO 3834 certified (Quality requirements for fusion welding of metallic materials).
Transition to an Environmentally Friendly Future
Salthammer Båtbyggeri AS delivers vessels with hybrid-electric propulsion and will also be able to deliver fully battery-electric vessels. We have already delivered several hybrid-electric vessels, contributing to reduced CO2 emissions and fossil fuel consumption. We have more vessels underway that will further help reduce emissions.
In addition, we are increasing our focus on more sustainable steel and can offer this in most of our projects. This will lead to a significantly reduced environmental footprint for vessels delivered by us.
Focus Areas
The world is facing significant challenges such as climate change, poverty, social inequality, ecological damage, and sustainable economic development. It is crucial that we, as a society, take responsibility for addressing these challenges. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) developed by the UN are an action plan to tackle these challenges systematically and purposefully.
As a company, we have chosen to focus on some of these goals to help solve the world's challenges.
Therefore, we have decided to take our share of responsibility and contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals through our daily work and projects. We actively work to reduce our own environmental impact while contributing to economic growth and social development in our local communities.
At Salthammer Group, sustainability and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) are fundamentally integrated into our business strategy, both in terms of business opportunities and internal operational measures. We commit to being proactive in meeting regulatory changes as well as the expectations and demands of our customers.
We work closely with our suppliers and customers to develop future maritime solutions, and we hold them to the same high standards we set for ourselves. We achieve this by continuing to make sound decisions, challenging ourselves, our suppliers, and partners, and by delivering high-quality products.
ESG Goals
Environmental
We have set specific goals to reduce CO2 emissions from the production process and from the operation of the vessels we produce. This includes investments in more energy-efficient technology, a focus on green alternatives, and the implementation of vessel electrification.
Increase resource utilization and reduce waste by implementing measures for recycling, reuse, and material waste reduction. This includes setting goals for increased recycling rates and reduced waste generated by production processes.
Social
We aim to maintain or improve working conditions for employees in the departments, including health and safety standards. This includes training, ergonomic improvements, and measures to reduce the risk of accidents and injuries. Continuous improvement is a priority.
We also aim to support local communities and contribute positively to society through various initiatives, such as training and education, supporting local charities, and promoting diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
Governance
Salthammer Group will choose to collaborate with companies or projects that align with our sustainability goals. We will make sustainability an important part of our economic decisions.
